Spotlight Mask heading

Spotlight Masking Effect!

1) Open a new movie FILE>NEW an go to MODIFY MOVIE and change the background to black.

2) On layer 1 write some text with the TEXT TOOL. Make it about 10 letters long, in size 48 and Grey color.

3) Name this layer GREY TEXT.

4) Insert a NEW LAYER and name it BLACK TEXT. Now copy the text onto this new layer.  Highlight the text and give it the black colour. Now align it over the grey text

5) Insert a NEW LAYER and name it YELLOW TEXT.

6) Copy the text from the previous layer, colour it a very light yellow colour and align it

over the other text on the stage. Highlight the text and go INSERT> CONVERT TO SYMBOL. Press OK

7) Insert a new layer and name it MASK. On this layer draw a small circle infront of the  text in red. Highlight it and go INSERT>CONVERT TO SYMBOL. Press OK.

8) On this layer insert a keyframe on frame 15 and 30. On frame 1 make sure the circle is infront of the text. On frame 15 position it at the other end of the text and on frame 30 position it infront of the text like in frame 1.

9) On the other layers insert a keyframe on frame 30 too.

10) Apply a motion tween to frame 1 of the mask layer and on frame 15.

11) right click on the layer name and click on MASK from the drop down menu.

There you go. You have just made yourself a very simple mask. I know it isn't much but you can learn very easily how to do other masks from this one.
